The Little Boy on the Ladder

There was a place and a time and a journey upon the sea. The poor people crammed in their quarters below were gripped in terror. The storm on the sea was so fierce they feared for their very lives.

As they were flung about from side to side the odor of sickness and fear continued to increase. Their dream of the New America where their life would be better was now lost to the violence of the raging sea. They turned to the only hope there is when nature shows its brutal dominion over man.

They began to confess and pray to the Almighty God. Oh, if he would only show mercy and grace.

As the leader cast a fearful eye upward to make sure the hatch was still secure, he spied a young boy calmly sitting at the top of the stairs. In anger he called out to the lad, “have you no sense, get down here you wicked child and pray”.  The boy said, “I am not worried. I peeked out the hatch and I saw our captain. He is standing strong with both hands on the wheel and there is a smile upon his face.”

Oh, beloved child of God, he who keeps your soul never grows weary nor does he ever rest. I am persuaded, that neither death nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Let us join with Paul and Silas, beaten and now chained in the prison below; cry out our songs of worship and praise in the midnight hour of our afflictions and know Almighty God, yes, our personal living God is on his way to deliver us today!
