The Most Wicked Man

In the book of First Kings, we read of King Ahab the wicked king. In chapter 21 it tells us there was none like unto Ahab which did sell himself to work wickedness in the sight of the Lord. He did very abominably in following idols. This king was more evil than any other king the nation Israel had ever known.

God sent the prophet Elijah to him to proclaim God was going to destroy him and his family. “He that dies in the city the dogs will eat; and he that dies in the field the birds of the air will eat.” He was going to kill every single son that was alive or ever to be born. God said tell him he has provoked me to anger and made Israel to sin. This truly was the most evil of men!

We read that when Ahab heard these words, he tore his clothing and replaced them with rough clothing that gave him no rest. He fasted and humbled himself before God.

God again spoke to the prophet and said, “do you see how Ahab has humbled himself before me? I will not bring this evil in his days.”

I have had people say to me, “I am so bad and have done things God can not forgive me for. I have no hope and will stay where I am in my sin until I perish.”

I come to confront you and tell you this is a lie. You see the Bible says there was none like Ahab who did sell himself to work wickedness in the sight of the Lord. God sees you and he knows every wicked thing you have ever done. He now waits for you to humble yourself and pray. To turn back to the cross and wash yourself again in the blood; that still has the power to cleanse the most wicked person on the face of the earth today.

Oh, my prodigal child your Father waits by the door and is looking down the road you left on and He yearns for your return.
